Modelling of mechanical systems
Master Physique appliquée et ingénierie physiqueParcours Mécatronique, énergie et systèmes intelligents

Description

  • Review of the basics of mechanics of a rigid body;
  • Inertia tensor of rigid body;
  • Kinematics of rigid bodies (coordinate transformation, description of velocity and acceleration in relatively moving frames, Euler angles);
  • Kinetics of rigid bodies;
  • Dynamics of rigid bodies (Newton’s laws, Kinetic energy theorem, equation of motion…);
  • Friction - contact mechanics - tribological system;
  • Application: gyroscopic stabilization, balancing of rotating bodies, wind turbine…

Compétences visées

The aim of this lecture is to provide the necessary knowledge in order to analyze and to model a mechanical system.
For that, this lecture includes :

  • Notes on kinematics, kinetics and dynamics of a rigid body;
  • Notes on inertia of a rigid body;
  • Notes on the resolution of differential second order equation (motion equation…);
  • Notes on friction and contact mechanics, lubrication and Hertz theory for mechanical transmission systems.
