Description


In this course the student should aquire the basic knowledge in mathematics applied to mechanics :

  • Geometry and coordinate systems, basic notions about curves, surfaces, level sets.
  • Functions of several variables: continuous linear applications. Differentiability. Taylor formula.

Differential operators : grad, div, curl.

  • Integral calculus, change of variables, integrals over curves and surfaces.
  • Green, Stokes, Gauss formulas. Models around the Laplacian.

Ability to work with vectors in two and three dimensions, multivariable functions.
Learning of differential calculus methods and tools.
Learning of integral calculus methods and tools.
Demonstrating the computational understanding for calculus applications by solving problems from physics, engineering or mathematics.
