Catalogue2026-2027

Description

This course aims to teach students the basics of fluid-structure interactions, focusing on how fluids and solids work together. The topics include:

  • How fluid and solid mechanics are connected.

  • Using dimensional analysis to study interactions.

  • Understanding dimensionless numbers and why they are important.

  • Writing equations that link fluids and solids with appropriate boundary conditions, including simplified forms.

  • Tools to anticipate and tackle phenomena such as flutter, galloping, sloshing, and vortex-induced vibrations.

Compétences visées

  •   Use dimensional analysis in fluid-structure interaction problems.
  •  Develop appropriate equations and models for coupled Fluid-Structure systems .
  •  Build and use computational tools for solving fluid-solid problems.
