Description

In this course the student should acquire the basic knowledge in :
The objective of the course is to initiate the students with the use of tools for numerical simulation of industrial processes coupling the hydraulic phenomena with the physico-chemical and biological reactions. This numerical approach results from sciences of chemical engineering. It is classically used to describe and optimize dynamic systems such as the waste-water treatment plants. For application studies, current problems of dynamic processes operation in waste-water treatment system will be approached by using either professional software (WEST, GPS-X, Biowin…), based on various generations of ASM models, or also by the implementation of the models using an object-oriented programming language.

The course will include in particular :

  • The Hydrodynamics and transfer modelling in dynamic systems (a chemical engineering approach);
  • The Separation process modelling (settling/thickening tanks);
  • The reactive transport processes.

  • To assimilate the numerical simulation of reacting flows.
