Description
Damage of bulk polymers are introduced and some reminders consist of fundamentals in mechanics of polymers (strain, plasticity, viscous flow…).
Thus, mechanical properties of surfaces of bulk and coated polymers are explored: viscoelasticity, viscoplasticity in indentation and sliding/scratching (+associated measures). The solutions in order to improve the scratch resistance of surfaces are discussed. The cases of problems involving adhesion are considered: film/substrate adherence and adhesive contact).
Scientific approach of real research cases are discussed in two think tanks during the courses.
Compétences visées
At the end of the course, the students should be familiar with contact mechanics issues, especially on polymers.
