Description
This course will allow the students from Maths/Chemistry/Biology backgrounds to be exposed to the basics in Physics.

Syllabus
1) Introduction to continuous media physics and Mathematical tools.
2) Conservation equations of scalar quantities: mass conservation, diffusion equation, logistic model...
3) Conservation equations of vectorial quantities:
3.1) Application to hydrodynamics (Euler equation, Navier-Stokes equation), life at low Reynolds number;
3.2) Application to solid: Elasticity :
3.3) Introduction to visco-elasticity: macroscopic model
4) Introduction to statistical mechanics: elasticity of polymers, phase transition in liquid.
